What is the Grasshopper Myth?

Lately I’ve been talking about a new mind set we need to develop as a local church, which is essential to being a healthy body! This healthy mind set has to do with church growth, mainly spiritual church growth. And how you and I view the local church, a successful local church. And that is the question. What is a successful church in the eyes of God? After all, He should know, He birthed the church. To answer that question, we must answer the above question first.

What is the grasshopper myth? Definition: The false impression that our Small Church ministry is less than what God says it is because we compare ourselves with others.

Repentance VS Being Good!

If you ask the average person, are you a good person? They would say yes. Yet Jesus Himself responded differently when He was called good by someone who desired to obtain eternal  life. Matt 19:16-23

Treating People Like You Like to be Treated!

When I got saved it was God’s amazing grace that delivered me, and I will forever be grateful. I came from a deep pit of sin, and yet God our Heavenly Father accepted me and made me His child and put me in His family. Something I did not deserve! So when I see people in need or in sin, I always remember what God did for me, and try to treat others with the same grace I was given. God’s undeserved Kindness. Even if I am mistreated by others.

I Have Learned to be Content!

Paul the Apostle made this amazing statement. Phil 4:10-13 10 But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at last your care for me has flourished again; though you surely did care, but you lacked opportunity. 11 Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: 12 I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. 13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. NKJV

Living with our Differences!

When I got saved in 1973, I learned quite early that there were many believers in Christ who saw things in the bible different than I did. I had to realize the body of Christ was worldwide and viewpoints were many. We were not like the cults who had to believe and say the same things. In fact, they were not allowed to think for themselves in most of those circles. For instance, I noticed that if I spoke to one Jehovah Witness and asked them a question they would answer with the same exact response. This was something they practice in their Kingdom Halls, and they even took pride in it. How do I know? Because I studied with them back in 1972 for a short while and almost became one of them. I also witnessed to the Mormons, and they were very similar. But, as I studied the scriptures I noticed in Romans 14, having one’s own conviction on a particular issue was not a bad thing. In fact, God allowed the believers to have their own differences or opinions. Rom 14:5 One person esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike. Let each be fully convinced in his own mind. NKJV

Fixing Our Eyes on Jesus in 2026!

We will soon be embarking upon a brand-New Year 2026, my prayer for all of us is to enter with confidence, and peace, knowing Question: What is the sin that so easily trips us up? And how do we run this race with endurance? What are the “weights” that we should remove so that we might win the race? Everything that hinders our progress. They might even be “good things” in the eyes of others. A winning athlete does not choose between the good and the bad; he chooses between the better and the best. We should also get rid of “the sin that so easily that Jesus is leading the way. As in any race, Jesus who is the lead runner, wants us to run this race well prepared to deal with the challenges that we all will face.
